BJP set to rule all District Panchayats barring just two

Bharatiya Janata Party has secured highest seats in 22 out of total 24 District Panchayts of Gujarat that witnessed poll on 21 October. BJP is plus three compare to last Panchayat polls.

Congress could win only two – Gandhinagar and Tapi District Panchayat.

BJP is short of majority in Bharuch District Panchayat where the party has secured 14 seats out of 31. Here Congress has secured 11 seats while independents have secured 6 seats. BJP will need independents support to come to power here.

BJP snatched Rajkot District Panchayat from Congress party after long time. BJP’s victory in Anand, Bharuch, Surat, Valsad, Dang districts – where Congress was ruling party earlier – is also important. BJP has captured all barring just one tribal area district Panchayat.

In most of the districts, BJP’s victory is grand.

Guajrat witnessed District Panchayat polls in all barring just two districts – Kheda and Banaskantha on 21 October.

BJP has so far won 81 seats of Taluka Panchayat, Congress 25(at 4.00 pm). BJP won 34 out of 53 Municipalities, Congress won 3, independents were leading in 4 Municipalities. In Porbandar and Unjha, no party has clear majority so far.
