Rs. 55 crore received as donation for ‘Statue of Unity’

Government of Gujarat has received Rs. 55 crore donation for Sardar Patel’s ‘Statue of Liberty’. The statue is planned on an island opposite the Sardar Sarovar dam.
Various Gujarat govt PSUs have donated Rs. 50 crore, while Adani group has donated Rs. 5 crore for Statue of Unity so far. The total project is worth Rs. 900 crore.
Gujarat government PSUs GSFC, GNFC, GMDC, GSPC, GSPL, GIDC, Gujarat Financial Services and others have donated Rs. 50 crore to Sardar Patel Rashtriya Smarak Ekta Samiti. Donation to this society is suitable for 50% tax exemption.
It is likely that tender to appoint project management consultant will be out within a week or so.
