Having National Integration Council (NIC) meeting’s verbatim record in her hand, leader of opposition in Lok Sabha and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today proved her point on Twitter that that she had correctly quoted Ms. Mehbooba Mufti in her Ahmedabad speech at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s Sadbhavana fsat’s concluding ceremony.

“I have now received the verbatim record of the proceedings of the NIC meeting held on 10th September 2011,” Sushma said on twitter today afternoon.

Sushma in her second tweet said: As per the official record, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti stated: “…I recall once I was in Chennai and I met some one, a Muslim businessman, and he told me that he had gone to see Gujarat Chief Minister, and he said I was very impressed, I had an appointment with him regarding some business deal and he had got all the officers there around him. They did not take even ten minutes and he got his job done.”

In successive tweet, Sushma clarified that she was putting this detail public not to embarrass Ms Mehbooba Mufti.

She said, “I am putting this not to embarrass Ms Mehbooba Mufti but only to set the record straight.”

Speaking in support of Modi on the final day of his fast in Ahmedabad, Ms Swaraj had said that at a recent meeting of the National Integration Council, Mehbooba Mufti said that a Muslim friend of hers wanted to invest in Gujarat and was astonished to be quickly granted an appointment, and that when he did meet Mr Modi, had a decision in half an hour.”

She also added, “You can accuse an Advani or a Sushma of bias when they praise Modi. But this was Mehbooba Mufti.”

Before Modi broke the fast, Swaraj in her speech said that not just BJP leaders and party workers, but even political adversaries have praised the Gujarat Chief Minister.

“Not just BJP supporters, even rivals like PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti has praised Narendra Modi’s work ethics in front of everyone at a NIC meeting. This makes us proud,” said Swaraj.

There is no discrimination in Gujarat against Muslims, Swaraj said.

However in reaction to Sushma’s speech, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti denied making any such comments as claimed by BJP leader Sushma Swaraj that she said anything about the Gujarat chief minister’s in New Delhi.

Sushma later clarified on Twitter that she had correctly quoted Ms. Mehbooba Mufti and she only quoted what she spoke in the presence of over a hundred people in the afternoon session of National Integrity Council meeting on 10th September.

Today Sushma put end to this controversy by directly quoting Mehbooba from the official verbatim record of NIC speeches circulated among the participants.
