Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi will be on one-day visit to Surat/ South Gujarat today.
Shri Modi will dedicate a newly renovated mandir of Unai mata at Unai.
Unai mandir has relation to Ramayana. It is said that Unai was the place where during vanavasa Shri Ram managed hot water for Sita mata by hitting an arrow to the ground.
Surface hot water presence, powered by underground heat attracts large number of visitors to Unai regularly.
It is said that Sita mata, after taking bath said ‘hu nahi’ ( I took bath). The same words ‘hu nahi’ later became Unai.
It should be mentioned that the Tourism department of Gujarat govt has planned Ramayana circuit in the Dangs(original name Dandakaranya as mentioned in Ramayan), and Unai will be one of the destinations in proposed circuit. Other prominent destinations to be covered in Ramayan circuit are Subir( named after Shabari of Ramayan), Anjani Kund(birth place of Hanuman).
It is to be noted that the Gujarat government has in its latest budget allocated money to study a possibility of Geo-thermal power generation at Unai and other natural hot water destinations of the state, like Tuva Timba, Dholera and Tulsi Shyam.
In connection to all things narrated above, Modi’s Unai visit, and how he speaks his mind there, will be interesting to see.
