Gujarat State Wildlife Board opposes relocation of Gir lions to Kuno

A meet of Gujarat State Wildlife Board was held in the headship of Chief Minister Narendra Modi today. The meet unanimously opposed the proposal of relocating the Asiatic Gir lions to the Kuno/Palpur Park in Madhya Pradesh.
The members of the Board agreed that Asiatic lions are precious asset of Saurashtra region. And the question of relocating the lions to some other place without consent of the people of Saurashtra does not arise at all.
Forest Minister Mangubhai Patel, Minister of State for Forest Kiritsinhji Rana, Minister of State for Water Resources Kanubhai Bhalala, Principal Secretary to Forest and Environment Dr. S K Nanda, Principal Chief Forest Conservator Pradip Khanna, senior officials and Board members were present during the meet.
