20,000 jawans to protect Rath Yatra 2012 in Ahmedabad, high-tech security plan includes GPS, live video wall, CCTV, SMS system(Video)

As many as 20,000 uniformed jawans belonging to regular police, SRP, CRPF, BSF and RAF will protect the 1.5 km long annual Rath Yatra on 15 km long route in Ahmedabad on 21 June, 2012. Four companies of RAF, four companies of CRPF, six companies of BSF, 41 companies of SRP, 10,000 regular cops, 800 officers including IGs and ADG will be on day-long duty of Rath Yatra bandobast.

According to city police, total 101 trucks, 30 akharas, 3 raths, 18 elephants, dozen plus bhajan mandalis will form Rath yatra this year.

City police control room will have a video wall over which video footage from Rath Yatra route will be featured. A group of trained policemen will sit in the control room and analyze the situation keeping vigil over video wall. They will be in capacity to zoom in any footage and take photograph of particular person or event sitting in control room itself.

On the most sensitive stretch between Prem Darwaja and Shahpur, Police has installed 24 CCTV cameras to keep sharp vigil. Adding to this, 55 video camera persons will move with Rath Yatra on entire route.

Four bomb disposal squads( each with 50 trained jawans) will continuously check the route rotation-wise.

Every 10th vehicle in Rath Yatra will be a police vehicle with GPS system installed in it. This will continuously keep the control room informed about exact location of yatra. There will b2 29 PCR vans deployed on Rath yatra route. Each PCR van is equipped with state-of-the-art communication system.

For the first time, polica has installed a unique SMS notification system at 38 locations. This system works on the basis of latitude longitude markings. As soon as rath yatra arrives at particular pre-decided location, targeted policemen in hundreds of number will be notified about the arrival of yatra through automatically generated SMS.
