Chief Election Commissioner of India to visit Gujarat on 9 July

Election Commission (EC) is getting ready to hold assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh by this year end.
Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath and Election Commissioner HS Brahma would be visiting Ahmedabad on July 9 and Shimla on the July 12 to galvanize the election machinery to get ready for the assembly polls and to check the preparedness.
The Commission would be meeting all political parties in Gujarat and HP seeking their views on holding elections.
The term of Gujarat assembly expires on the January 17, 2013 and a new house has to be constituted before January 17. The term for Himachal Pradesh assembly expires on January 10 next year.
