Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today opened India’s first e-library – The laws in Ahmedabad. The library has 8 lakh court orders.

“In changing time, e-library is possible only in Gujarat at present,” he said adding that e-governance will strengthen the legal system in Gujarat.

It should be mentioned that Bar Council of Gujarat has initiated a project to covert all district and taluka bar association law libraries into e-library. All proceedings of taluka to supreme court level court cases starting from 1947 are covered under the e-library network.

With the new facility opened today, state’s 64,000 lawyers will be able to access 8 lakh plus English verdicts and 25,000 Gujarati orders.

The Government of Gujarat has contributed Rs 2.22 crore aid for this project.

Shri Modi reminded lawyers a role o f lawyers community played in India’s independence struggle and appealed them to make 21st century as India’s century.

Shri Modi started his speech by saying: બારમાં આવ્યો છું, અને બાર બારમાં મને જરૂર છે. અને બાર બારમાં બાર જરૂર કામમાં આવશે. અકલમંદ કો ઈશારા કાફી.

-મારા પર તો પાર્કીંગ સુધ્ધાનો કેસ થયો નથી એટલે હું વકીલોની દુનિયા બહુ જાણું નહીં. ૨૦૦૮ પછી દિશા બદલાઈ, પણ દશા નથી બદલાઈ.
