Number of criminal cases against MP: Vitthal Radadia is third from top nationally

You might have seen today on TV how Congress MP from Porbandar, Shri Viththal Radadia showed his gun at toll tax booth the highway in Gujarat.
-The incident happened at Karjan’s Bharthana Patiya toll booth late in the night.
-Radadia was going to Bharuch in his Innova cat. When toll collector sought toll fee, Radadia’s driver showed photocopy of identity card of MP Radadia. As this card was not original, the toll supervisor asked to show original card. This sparked off arguments between car driver, toll collector and toll booth control room supervisor.
-Later MP Viththal Radadia came out of the car with rifle in his hand and showed it to toll plaza employees. Radadia also hit the butt of the gun and threatened to kill the employee. Six persons with the MP came out of the car and blocked the road.
-Toll plaza manager was recording the incident in CCTV camera.
-Video footage is now visible on national news channels.
A police complaint has been filed against Radadia and six others in this regard in Karjan police station.
Leuva Patel leader Vitthal Radadia is MP from Porbandar while his son is MLA. The Congress party was plannning to induct Radadia in union ministry ahead of the Gujarat elections to attract more votes from Patel community, but with the latest gun incident on national TV, it is unlikely that Radadia will get this opportunity now.
What Radadia told NDTV? “I am an MP, I deserve respect. MPs don’t have to pay toll. When I got down a man who earns 100 rupees called me a bogus MP. If a person calls me a bogus MP, they say my card is false, what do I do? Are people free to attack us? I acted in self defense. Where is the police on a highway…Anything can be possible on the highway, people get looted and women are raped. Porbandar is a sensitive area and we need it for protection.”
Interestingly, Radadia according to his affidavit filed before the Election Commission of India in year 2009 is no. 3 Lok Sabha MP in India facing highest number of criminal cases. As many as 20 criminal cases have been filed against Radadia so far. The number one MP in this category is JMM MP Kameshwar Baitha from Palamau seat who faces 46 criminal cases, No. 2 is BJP’s Ahir Gangaram with 30 cases.
