Ahmedabad Education Society plans two new institutes

With foundation stone-laying ceremony for the new buildings, Ahmedabad Education Society (AES), the premier educational organization committed to set up world class educational institutes in the city of Ahmedabad, today initiated the process for setting up two new institutes, namely Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) and Institute of Life Sciences (ILS). While the foundation stone for the building was laid by Dr. A. H. Kalro Pro-Vost, Ahmedabad University (AU) & Mr. B. M. Shah, Registrar, AU, the society has also embarked upon an ambitious project for setting up a state-of-the-art sport complex, and foundation stone for the same was also laid today by Prof. M. T. Patel, Director, HLIC. Mr. Sanjay Lalbhai, Chancellor, AU, was also present at the occasion held on the auspicious day of Dussera.
Both of the facilities will be constructed on the existing land section that is already available with AES. The new four-storey building, which will house both of the institutes, will be spread over an area of 2.5 lakh square feet and it will be constructed with an investment of about Rs. 50 crore.
“While the total area allocated for the proposed sport complex is about 80,938 square meters (20 acres) and Rs. 10 crore will be shell out to set up the facility over the period of three years. The proposed sports complex will have international standard cricket ground with pavilion (eventual planning), athletic ground, football ground, tennis courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, cricket practice pitch (fenced), indoor sports facilities, swimming pool, parking for two & four wheelers, plantation etc. These facilities will be available for the students of all the colleges of AU and AES” explained Prafull Anubhai, Chairman, AES.
The upcoming IICT, which is a part of School of Science and Technology, will offer five year program offering dual degree of B.Tech & M. Tech. It aspires to emerge as a high-quality research-driven multidisciplinary institution for faculty and students to solve real world problems, by leveraging, and innovating, ICT products and services that have stronger societal and industrial impact.
The ILS is also a part of School of Science and Technology and will offer Masters Program (MS) in Life Sciences with specialization in biochemistry, microbiology and biotechnology with a motto of “Nurturing Science, Knowledge and Innovation”.
