“Transforming the nation into a developed country, five areas in combination have been identified based on India’s core competence, natural resources and talented manpower for integrated action to double the growth rate of GDP and realize the Vision of Developed India.”

These are APJ Abdul Kalam’s words in his book India 2020. When I first read the book in 2002, I felt that Kalam had an over ambitious & unrealistic expectation from our country & its politicians who simply don’t want to improve. Come 2012 and I suddenly feel that things are falling in place. It now seems that Kalam’s prophecy will come true. The reason :A resolute man called Narendra Modi. If he stays as the PM from 2014 -2020, Kalam’s dream could well be a reality!

Narendra Modi is now just two steps away from being the next PM. The first one being the Gujarat Elections 2012.A win here would propel him miles ahead of others. It is no secret that he is the front runner to be BJP’s PM Candidate in 2014. Two points would aid him greatly in the next general elections:

1. Absence of a credible counterpart
2. People’s wish to embrace the Modi model of development

Thus an emphatic win here is of paramount importance. With the Gujarat State Congress in tatters, and Congressmen migrating to BJP in wholesale, a win for Modi sounds a mere formality. But that can also lead to complacency among the cadres. Various statistics show different factors that can alter the results dramatically. Some say Patel votes are the key, while others say Rural votes would be the key. Well, the actual key would be the Voting Percentage. In the 4 Elections (Lok Sabha+Vidhan Sabha) over the last 10 years ,facts suggest that Modi’s fortunes rise with increase in the voting.

Isn’t it crystal clear now, as to what needs to be done to ensure a huge Modi victory? Voting in huge numbers! Looking at some other statistics, Gujarat has 3.78 crore voters. Let us assume that the voting percentage is 60%. That gives us 2.28 crore voters roughly. For an magnanimous win , Modi would require around 50% of the votes i.e. around 1.15 crore votes.

Our country missed out when we could not make Sardar Patel the PM. But this is a second tryst with history for Gujaratis. This is our chance to become one of the 1,15 crore people who catapulted India from a state of inertia to a dynamic nation . All we need to do is to go out in large numbers & vote for Modi.

Remember the dialogue from Rang De Basanti, Koi Desh Perfect Nahi Hota use Perfect Banana Padta Hain. This is our chance at Making India perfect, infact a Superpower by 2020. And all we need to do is VOTE!
