Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today visited former Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Madhavsinh Solanki at a hospital in Ahmedabad. Shri Solanki was admitted here today after he suffered chest pain.

On way to meet Mr. Solanki, Shri Modi on twitter said, “Visiting Congress stalwart and former Gujarat CM Shri Madhavsinh Solanki to inquire about his health. He is admitted to a hospital in Ahmedabad.”

It is very interesting to note that Madhavsinh Solanki had set a record of the longest serving Chief Minister of Gujarat. Mr. Modi broke the record in later years of the first decade of 21st century.

However Mr. Modi has not been successful yet to break another record made by Mr. Solanki.

The Congress party under leadership of Shri Solanki in 1985 won highest number of 149 assembly seats(81.88% seats of total 182) by executing the KHAM(Kshatriya, Harijan, Aadivasi, Muslim) theory.

Though very popular, Modi has not been able to cross this figure. Under his leadership BJP has yet not touched 130 even. In 2002 Modi won 69.78% seats while in 2007 he won 64.28% seats.

Speaking to media persons in Borsad where he cast his vote on Monday, Madhavsinh said he would be happy if someone breaks his record of victory over 149 seats. He said this in reply to a question by media persons on Modi’s possible record break victory.

Input from PTI: “Madhavsinh Solanki was brought to the hospital in the morning after he complained of breathing complications,” Resident Medical Officer Kaushik Brahmbhatt said.

He is also a diabetes patient.

Stating that Solanki’s condition was stable, the hospital authorities said he underwent coronary angiography after admission.

Madhavsinh Solanki, born in Jambusar in Bharuch district on July 29, 1927, holds the record of winning the highest number of seats (149 out of 182) in the history of Gujarat Assembly elections. His son, Bharatsinh Solanki, is MP from Anand and Union Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister.
