Two MLAs among 1268 candidates who lost deposits

There are two sitting MLAs among 1,268 candidates who contested the recently concluded Gujarat assembly elections and lost their deposits. The deposit of a candidate who fails to secure 10% or more of the total votes polled is forfeited as per the rule.
There were total 1,666 candidates in fray of whom 76% forfeited their deposits. Only 398 candidates, including the 182 winning nominees, could save their deposits.
Two sitting MLAs who lost their deposits are Rebel BJP man Dr Kanu Kalsaria and NCP candidate from Gondal Chandu Vaghasia who lost against BJP candidate Jayrajsinh.
Among prominent faces who lost their deposits is Jagruti Pandya who lost the election on Ellis bridge seat.
