Gandhinagar, 12 January, 2013
Addressing a huge youth convention today at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, the Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that ‘sharing of knowledge’ has become the biggest investment and the power of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit.
In his inspirational speech, on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary, the Chief Minister expressed his desire to invigorate the youth activities in the Vivekananda Youth Centers, spreading across the state, and to involve youths for the service of the society and poor. He also announced coming up with a new ‘Yuva Niti’ (youth policy) for the empowerment of Gujarat’s youth.
He said, “In 1897, Swami Vivekananda asked youths to stop worshiping their deities and start working for the Mother India for next fifty years. And after 50 years, our nation got freedom. Swamiji has also dreamt of India becoming ‘jagadguru’ (world leader).” He called upon youths to come out for the service of their nation, expressing faith that Swamiji’s dream will come true.
The Chief Minister exhorted youths to dream “not to become something”, but, “to do something” in their life. “Swami Vivekananda encouraged youths to dedicate their lives for the service of mankind, and not to the religious activities. He asked youths to eliminate poverty, unemployment, diseases and passivity from the society”, Mr.Modi said.
“A mere whimsical wish of getting success will not help. You should have a stable longing coupled with hard work to get success”, he said.
Expressing his desire of building a ‘divine’ and ‘grand’ Gujarat, the Chief Minister said, “we want to turn Gujarat into a place which is recognized by the world for the knowledge and might of its youth”.
Mr.Modi also referred to the international conference of academic institutions which was organized by the State to deliberate on building partnership between Gujarat’s universities and some of the renowned international universities. Describing the conference as a historical event he said it will bring many rewarding outcomes.
He said that India has the biggest number of youth population, and expressed desire to bring out the potential of youths before the world.
