Gujarat Assembly today witnessed uproars after Congress MLA from Manavadar Jawahar Chavda made derogatory remarks against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Agitated BJP MLAs later forced Chavda to tender an apology for it.
During the question hour today morning, while raising a question on the population of Asiatic Lions in Gir, Chavda made some comments on the role played by Modi in increasing the number of wild cats at the sanctuary. Enraged over the remarks, BJP MLAs stood up in protest and vociferously demanded an apology from Chavda amid sloganeering and shouting. This halted proceedings of the house. Speaker Vajubhai Vala ordered to remove Chavda’s words in question from the house records.
After Speaker’s direction, Chavda made a statement in the House expressing regrets for his remarks.
