Which is the place/occasion in India where maximum number of Indians come on their own in specific period of time? Undoubtedly, the answer is ‘Kumbh Mela’.
Now if you ask which is the place in Gujarat where maximum number of Gujaratis gather during specific time period? The answer could be 0 ‘Ambaji fair’.
Today is Bhadarvi poonam – the last and the busiest day of six days long Ambaji fair.
During last five days, a small Ambaji town has been visited by 2.3 million pilgrims. Only on Wednesday, 3,65,721 pilgrims visited Ambaji.
In last five days, Ambaji mandir has been offered 5,423 religious flags by pilgrims. The mandir trust has received donations worth Rs. 2,45,93,592.
Over 1,86,456 people are provided free meal in this small north Gujarat town. 10,66,651 packets of prashad are distributed among the pilgrims. 71,800 litre milk and 28,800 liter butter milk has been distributed among people.
When it comes to mass gatherings in Gujarat, Bhavnath fair in Junagadh, Tarnetar fair in Surendranagar, Janmashtami fair in Rajkot, Vautha fair in Amdavad district and Katyok fair at Sidhpur also attract significant number of visitors, but there’s no match to Bhadarvi poonam Ambaji fair.
