Ahmedabad Police nab Bangladeshi family of six for illegal stay since 2021
July 03, 2025
Ahmedabad: As part of an ongoing campaign to identify and detain illegal Bangladeshi nationals, the Special Operations Group (SOG) has caught a family of six — a couple and their four children — who had been living illegally in Ganeshnagar, Pirana, since 2021.
According to SOG Police Inspector A.D. Gamit, a tip-off was received about a Bangladeshi family residing near Hariyali Hotel on Vatva-Pirana Road. Acting on the information, the SOG team launched an investigation and identified the individuals as Milan Abdulbhai Sheikh (35), his wife Afsana (32), and their children — Shabnam (13), Alamin (10), Habiba (7), and Alauddin (4).
During interrogation, it was revealed that the family had illegally entered India in 2021, crossing the Wagah border by road in search of employment. They eventually settled in Ahmedabad’s Pirana area, working as casual labourers to make ends meet.
As the family failed to produce any documentation proving Indian citizenship, authorities have initiated procedures to deport them to Bangladesh. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
