Ahmedabad, 20 November 2013
Gujarat government’s review petition against Supreme Court’s April order to shift the lions from Gir to Madhya Pradesh’s Palpr-Kuno wildlife sanctuary has been disposed of by the Supreme Court. The detail order is yet awaited.
The Supreme Court had dismissed Gujarat government’s plea opposing translocation of lions to Madhya Pradesh. The court had given six months time for the translocation. The state government had challenged this decision and filed a review petition which has been dismissed now. Curative petition is now the only legal resort left with the Gujarat government to stop translocation of Asiatic lions.
