Uttarayan: Vadodara Police bans Chinese balloons and string
January 07, 2014
Vadodara, 7 January 2014
Vadodara Police Commissioner has issued a notification and banned Chinese balloons and string ahead of 14 January Kite flying day. The Police Commissioner said action will be taken against violation of notification.
Note:
For last few years, Chinese balloons have become integral part of Uttarayan celebration in urban areas of Gujarat. People like to fly balloons very much on Uttarayan. Earlier, people used to lit candle and put it inside ‘tukkal’. But in recent years, tukkals are replaced with Chinese balloons which are easier to fly, but dangerous due to its potential to cause fire at the venue of landing.
While police get some success in controlling the Chinese string, it fails to control Chinese balloons due to scale of its availability in market on Uttarayana.
