The left wing of Indian politics is now available in new flavour called Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) and Mallika Sarabhai, a left-leaning controversial dancer based in Ahmedabad is joining AAP today.

Most probably due to her left-wing connection and Ford Foundation contacts, Mallika Sarabhai was connected to Arvind Kejriwal and Manishi Sisodia’s India Against Corruption movement. Mallika too has received America based Ford Foundation money like Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia. Mallika was seen continuously laughing with Manish Sisodia on stage in Anna Hazare’s function in Ahmedabad in May 2011. Even when Hazare’s popularity was very high, that function was attended by only around 1,000 people on footpath of Lal darwaja area. Local newspapers had blamed lack of credibility of Anna’s left-wing hosts in Ahmedabad for poor response. This was the same function in which Agnivesh’s turban was removed by one Sadhu.

About 50 minute long boring speech of Agnivesh in that function had only one good halt when his mic didn’t work for a while and one person taking benefit of this stood up just near the stage and asked Agnivesh, “what are you talking against corruption, this Mallika Sarabhai sitting on the stage is herself corrupt. My father is poor mill worker and Sarabhai doesn’t give us our Rupees for last two and half decades.” Agnivesh heard this but as soon as his mic started working again, he continued to speak on ‘wider web of corruption.’

Mallika continues to stay in news now and then in Gujarat based newspaper(and even outside sometime). Once she was charged with ‘kabutarbazi’ in police complaint and was in news. Another time, some TV producers had challenged allotment of slot to Mallika Sarabhai by Planning Commission without inviting proposals from others. A case in this regard was filed in the court. Then she was in news for her candidature against LK Advani in Lok Sabha elections in 2009. After all media hype, dances in public and fund collection, she could get less than 10,000 votes and lost her deposit.

Mallika is in news again now with her new political debut.

Mallika Sarabhai’s induction is suicidal step for AAP in Gujarat. AAP is yet to get noticeable support in any part of Gujarat. With Mallika Sarabhai’s entry, it will continue to fail to get noticeable support in Gujarat. Her induction will only help AAP to get extra coverage in print and electronic media on regular basis, but AAP can get it anyway due to its stop-Modi agenda(which is also an agenda of section of media).

Mallika as frontal face of AAP in Gujarat is great news for BJP here, because such vocal and proven anti-Modi leadership will project AAP as clear clear anti-BJP party, and therefore a common voter will see AAP as an option to Congress and not as an option to BJP. So Congress votes will split and not BJP’s.

It would be fantastic if AAP also manage to induct Shabnam Hashmi, Medha Patkar and Teesta Setalvad also. Let all getting foreign funding, all those sympathetic to Maoists, all those favoring Kashmir’s separation from India over a cup of coffee, all favoring draconian level of quota, all who see wrong in Batla house and other encounters of terrorists, all who are against development projects like Narmada dam, all who say Modi is demon come together on surface and support AAP openly by joining it. Things are getting clear. Let them be clearer.
