The road that will mark future of the city of Surat

Surat Municipal Commissioner has proposed the allotment of Rs. 25 crore in draft budget for year 2014-15. Commissioner’s budget draft is yet to be discussed, reviewed and approved by elected wing – first in Standing committee and later in general board. Presented below are the details of proposed outer ring road project that emerge from media briefing yesterday:
-Proposed outer ring road of Surat will be 8-lane wide. First track will be for BRTS, other three tracks for vehicles, one track will be for bicycles with service road.
-Presently the procedure of making a master plan for this 63 km long and 90 meter(300 ft) wide outer ring road project is going on.
-200 ft roads on both sides of outer ring road will give relief to traffic.
-4.00 FSI on ring road. In other areas it’s just 1.8 FSI. 70 meter high buildings to be permitted.
-Outer ring road will be connected to national highway, express way and airport.
-Execution to be carried out in next five years in phased manner.
-Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) will sale saleable land in proposed Town Planning(TP) schemes and build the road without any burden on citizens. Even not toll tax burden.
-Total 13 Town Planning(TP) schemes are proposed next to outer ring road.
