Ahmedabad BRTS fare hike upto Rs.2:AJL expects 10% revenue rise

Amdavad Jamnarg Limited(AJL) which runs Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) in Ahmedabad has hiked fare by Rs. 2. AJL has estimated 10% increase in income with this hike. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) presently gives Rs. 50 crore subsidy to AJL.There are 160 BRTS buses functional in Ahmedabad, of them 59 are air conditioned but there’s no extra charge implied. Daily 1.40 lakh passengers use BRTS service on its 86 km long route. BRTS’s first fare was fixed on 14 October 2009 as per the diesel prices effective at that time.
