The real reason behind frequent increase in milk cost is growing input costs at basic level.
It’s good to see that benefit of milk price hike reaches the basic man who takes care of cattle(which is not easy) and produces milk.
Surat based SUMUL dairy has declared Rs. 25/kg fat pay hike for milk producers. The dairy has taken a decision to pay Rs. 580 per kg/fat rate for buffalo milk and Rs. 550 per kg/fat rate for cow milk.
The decision has been taken due to 15% low income of milk witnessed at dairy in recent times. The reason is increased input cost due to increased labor cost, transportation cost, lower fodder cultivation, increase in fodder prices and increase in prices of good quality milk producing cattle.
