Countdown begins for gates installation work at Narmada dam

The countdown for installation of gates on Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam has begun. All preparations to start concrete work over the dam for installation of gates are over. Plates are fixed on block number 49. Material for senting has arrived on the site. Roads to dam site are being cleaned and color work is also going on at some places. Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam(SSNNL) employees are on foot.
Officials present on the site are not ready to reveal anything at this stage. However in off-the-record conversation they hint out that the task of installation of gates over Narmada dam will begin on 13 June from, and the work will begin from block number 49.
They say, the Narmada Control Authority is likely to grant permission to install gates on Thursday, June 12th itself.
BJP cadre in Narmada district has been instructed not to move outside the district on 13th. DeshGujarat contacted district president of BJP who said the party has so far not given any instruction on the event on 13th. He said Chief Minister or other dignitary could visit the district either for Shala Praveshotsav or Narmada dam work.
Once permitted by Narmada Control Authority, the installation task will take around two to three years time to complete.
