Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) run aquarium has added three sharks to its gallery. All three sharks are ‘Blacktip reef shark’ type.
SMC run aquarium opened by Narendra Modi early this year had ordered 12 sharks from Singapore before the inauguration, and the task was assigned to Chennai based firm. However sharks died on way to Surat reportedly due to heat following a long traffic jam. Then Chief Minister Narendra Modi had to inaugurate aquarium without its main attraction of sharks therefore.
The SMC later decided not to take risk of ordering another lot of shark in hot summer. Now when monsoon has set, SMC ordered another lot of shark from Chennai where they were kept in transit.
After successful relocation and introduction of three sharks, SMC plans to bring another lot of sharks soon. They will be Gray and Whites shark, Leopard shark and Pollard shark.
SMC aquarium earned Rs. 2.62 lakh revenue last Sunday. From first day itself, the aquarium has witnessed extra ordinary rush of visitors.
