Britain to open a full fledge Deputy High Commissioner office in Gujarat

Britain Secretary of State to Energy and Climate Change Mr. Edward Devey paid courtesy visit to Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today.
During the meeting, he informed the Chief Minister that Britain will start a full-fledge deputy high commissioner office in Ahmedabad with a view to strengthen the relationship between Gujarat and Britain.
Mrs. Patel invited Mr. Edward with a high-level delegation from Britain to take part in upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit in 2015.
Gujarat Chief Minister expressed keenness in Britain joining hands with the Gujarat government for agriculture and climate change sectors, to which she received positive response from the Britain’s side. She also acquainted Britain’s Secretary of State with Gujarat being the first State in the country to start a separate climate change department.
Mr. Edward showed interest in knowing about Gujarat’s novel initiatives for energy reforms and energy security. He also mentioned how about 6 lakh Gujaratis living in Britain contributing positively on the country’s social, cultural and political fronts.
