Only CWG medal winner from Gujarat at Glasgow Lajja Goswami meets CM

The Gujarat Chief Minister, Shri Anandiben Patel today congratulated the only medal winner from Gujarat Lajja Goswami for winning Bronze medal in XX Commonwealth Games at Glasgow in Scotland.
Lajja Goswami last month won silver medal in women’s 50-metre Rifle 3 Position event at the XX Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
Lajja Goswami, hails from Anand district in Gujarat and is a silver medalist at the 2010 Commonwealth Games,
Following her victory in year 2010 Commonwealth Games, then Chief Minister of Gujarat and present Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi had visited her house in central rural Gujarat with them Sports Minister to encourage her.
On request of Lajja and recommendation of Narendra Modi, she was given the best quality rifle by the Government of Gujarat on which she took Modi’s signature.
Lajja was unable to get selection in the 11-member team for 2012 London Olympics after failing to lift her game during the trials.
The Gujarat government has given a job in Gujarat Police to Lajja recognizing her achievements in sports.
