Women MPs from Gujarat presented Rakhis brought from Gujarat based party workers to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi

Festival of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated with joy and enthusiasm across Gujarat today.
Chief Minister Anandiben Patel tied rakhi to specially abled children, unprivileged women and police persons in Gandhinagar.
She also visited national president of BJP Shri Amit Shah’s residence in Thaltej area of Ahmedabad and tied Rakhi to Amit Shah and his wife.
In Kutch, a group of BJP women led by Dr. Nimaben Acharya tied Rakhis to Border Security Force(BSF) jawans who are guarding the Kutch of India with Pakistan.
Jail authority in Gujarat permits sisters to tie Rakhi to their brothers in prison. A long queue of women was witnessed outside the Sabarmati jail in this connection.
Among children, Rakhis featuring cartoon characters like Chhota Bheem, Pokemon, Doremon etc were popular.
At some places, sisters insisted to follow proper muhurat, and tied Rakhis only after 2.00 pm.
Brahmins changed Janoi at various places on today’s occasion which is also known as Nariyeli poonam.
Raksha Bandhan was also celebrated across the state in various mandirs. At Shamlaji, devotees handed over Rakhis to mandir priest to tie to Kaliya Thakor’s murthy.
A family of five traveling after celebrating Raksha Bandhan died after their car plunged into Narmada main canal near Bodeli in central Gujarat. Water flowing in canal was stopped for some time for rescue work.
Gujarat Congress didn’t fail to play politics even on Raksha Bandhan day. They sent a Rakhi of tomato to Prime Minister taunting rising price of tomato.
