SMC commissioner in Delhi to showcase successful projects

Municipal Commissioner of Surat is in Delhi to give presentation before the Urban Development department secretary on various initiatives implemented by the Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC).
In its presentation, the Municipal Commissioner will showcase various urban development projects including turteary treatment plant, renewable energy sources, solid waste management, e-governance, mobile application etc.
The presentation session will cover economic benefits earned through energy projects including wind power plants, source of funding, story of their successful implementation etc.
It should be mentioned that by setting up a turteary lant, SMC has reused the waste water. SMC is first municipal corporation to use wind power(first wind power plant by SMC was set up way back in November 2010).. By October 2014, SMC has generated 3.16 crore unit clean power and saved Rs. 15.40 crore. SMC is going to add 21 MW wind power plants and 5 MW solar power plant in next four years.
Solid waste collection and removal job is being done through public private partnership model. City civic center, vaccination alert system, SMS briefing, property tax payment through application, single number helpline are e-governance projects.
Health center, swimming pool, fire station etc locations and their routes are integrated with google maps. SMC app has attracted over 60,000 downloads.
