241 projects accorded environment clearance by BJP govt in centre, maximum in Gujarat

Environment Ministry has approved maximum number of 55 projects in BJP-ruled Gujarat followed by and Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra since the NDA government came to power at the Centre.
Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said that two hundred and fourty one projects have been accorded green clearance during the tenure of present government.
“Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change has accorded environment clearance to 241 projects during the tenure of the present government,” Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.
While environment clearances have been accorded to 35 projects in Andhra Pradesh, 22 projects in Maharashtra got the green nod, according to state-wise details of project accorded environmental clearance during May to November.
The Ministry has granted green nod for eighteen projects from Madhya Pradesh.
No approval has been granted to projects from states like Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, reveals the data presented by the government in the House.
