PBD-2015: Media interaction by Ministry of External Affairs in Gandhinagar

Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs today addressed a press conference in Gandhinagar on ongoing Pravasi Bharatiya Divas functions. He said Wednesday sessions were about Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. The main functions of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas however will be held on Thursday and Friday. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the PBD-2015 and salt mound on Thursday, while Vice President of India will preside the valedictory function on Friday and present awards to 15 NRIs.
He said the inaugural session will also see presence of president of Guyana, vice premier of Moratious and foreign minister of South Africa among others.
He said about 4,000 delegates are likely to participate in PBD from 40 countries.
He said ministers including Shri Venkaian Naidu, Uma Bharti, Birendra Singh, Rajiv pratap Ruddy and Mahesh Sharma will address sessions on Thursday.
He said Gopal Krishna Gandhi from Mahatma Gandhi’s family was invited to speak in Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas function, but he was unable to accept the invitation due to his prior commitments.
He said Chief Minister’s session will be moderated by union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh. Chief Minister of Punjab, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand are likely to participate. Ministerial level participation is likely from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan.
In reference to Guyana president’s first official visit to India he said that Guyana seeks multi-speciality hospital by India in Guyana.
