Four new bills in assembly by Gujarat government

The Gujarat Government has submitted four new bills to the state assembly which are to be moved.

These bill include “The Gujarat Motor Vehicle Tax(Amendment) Bill, 2015 which will empower the state Transport department to seize and auction vehicles whose owners fails to pay the motor vehicle tax as well as charge heavy fine and imprisonment also.

In this amendment bill the state Transport department has added section 12C which says, “notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any law for the time being in force, any amount payable by the owner or a person in possession or control of a motor vehicle on account of tax, interest or penalty for which he is liable to pay to the Government, shall be a first charge on the property of such person or owner or proprietor.’’

The state Government has also increased the fine amount for failing in paying tax from Rs.100 to Rs.5000 and Rs.200 to Rs.10000.

By amending the section 19 of the act the government introduced the strict provision which says, “whoever contravenes the provision of section 3 of this Act shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extent to six months and with fine which shall be double the amount of the upaid tax; and the amount of interest due.’’

The other three bills to be tabled are ‘The Gujarat Private Universities(second amendment) Bill, 2015(to give parul Arogya Seva Mandal, Vadodara a private university status), ‘The Gujarat University of Transplantation Sciences Bill, 2015(to give university status to Kidney Institute Ahmedabad a university status) and ‘The Gujarat Court-Fees(Amendment) Bill, 2015 to allow the use E-stamping in the court fees which will reduce scarcity of stamps as well as increase the convenience of people and advocates.
