Chennai Metro Rail to be commissioned this year: Tamil Nadu CM

The first phase of the Chennai Metro Rail project would be commissioned this year, Chief Minsiter O Pannerselvam announced in the Tamil Nadu assembly today.
“The Phase-I of the Chennai Metro Rail Project will be commissioned in stages from this year onwards.”, he said while presenting the state’s 2015-16 budget.
The Government so far released a sum of Rs 3,105.82 crore both as loan and share capital, he said and added that Rs 615.78 crore additional funds has been allocate to ensure timely completion”.
“We hope the Government of India will also release the Rs 1,498.74 crore of loan and share capital to this project at the earliest”, he said.
