Harni airport gallery to display exhibit of amateur artists

Vadodara

A dedicated art gallery is being established at Harni domestic airport near here where budding artists can showcase their creations.

“The gallery is being set up at the terminal building of the airport as per the instructions given by the Civil Aviation Ministry to the Airport Authority of India (AAI).

Once functional, budding painters and sculptors can put up their creation on display for public viewing and even for sale,” AAI Director at Harni Airport, Santosh Dhoke said here today.

He said the initiative was aimed at encouraging amateur artists, many of whom come from across the country and even from abroad to learn fine arts at the reputed Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) of Baroda.

Explaining about the gallery, Dhoke said the AAI will provide the space free of cost to artists.

“However, in case any exhibit getting sold, ten per cent of its cost will have to be paid to AAI. The decision is essentially aimed at improving the ambiance of the airport,” he said.

Dhoke said a three-member panel has been constituted for shortlisting artists whose work will be put up on display.

“The art work must be the original creation of the artist and not in violation of any copyright, trademark or other similar laws and regulations. The artist will have to submit an affidavit regarding this,” he added.
