Bhavnagar
Bor Talav and Khodiyar Talav, two major water bodies of Bhavnagar area that were eariler not included in ambitious Saurashtra Narmada Avataran Yojana(SAUNI Yojana), but with efforts of local BJP leaders including Jitubhai Vaghani, Bipinbhai Maheta and Mehulbhai Vadodariya, both these water bodies are now part of SAUNI Yojana.
Rs. 10,000 crore SAUNI Yojana will connect 115 dams of Saurashtra region with Narmada canal network through big pipelines.
Local BJP leaders of Bhavnagar were trying for inclusion of Bor and Khodiyar talav in SAUNI Yojana for last two years. Number of representations were made in this regard to then Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi, present Chief Minister Anandiben, Irrigation, Finance and Water supply ministers among others.
The Chief Minister has in response given instructions to concerned department to look into it, as a result of which survey and design tasks are underway. As per local BJP leaders, the government has given in principle nod to inclusion of two talavs. The works on Bhimdad-Randhola Link-2 canal are in progress. Randhola to Bor and Khodiyar Talav link would be gravity route and therefore it is feasible to take water to these water bodies. It will prove blessing during scarcity for entire Gohilwad sub-region.
