A complaint has been received by the registrar of companies from a non-resident Indian against a retail firm owned by the son of Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel

“Online complaint received from Roshan Shah against M/S Anar Retail Private Limited regarding affairs of the company,” said a letter dated May 11 signed by the Deputy Registrar of Companies, Gujarat, M K Sahu.

In the complaint, Shah has raised doubts over the running of the firm for over 20 years from an address given by the chief minister as her home in the 2012 elections.

However, Swetank Patel, the chief minister’s son, dismissed the complaint and alleged the complainant himself was an offender in another case.

The Registrar of Companies’ letter urged Anar Retail Private Ltd to resolve the complaint and send a reply to the complainant within 10 days of receipt of the letter failing which it threatened penal action against the company and its directors.

The registrar acted on a complaint filed by Shah, an NRI who is at present staying here, about the affairs of the retail firm.

According to company registrar’s website, the firm has directors namely Swetank Patel and his wife Heena Patel.

“Swetank is Chief Minister Anandiben Patel’s son, who is popularly known as Sanjay Patel,” Shah told PTI.

The company has not done any marketing, promotion or branding and is running out of a home. How can one retail business run out of home with home not open to any customers,” said the complaint.

When contacted Swetank Patel, alleged the applicant is himself an offender in another case.

“Some people are supporting Roshan Shah. But first, you should know about him (Shah), then you come to talk. He is an offender himself,” Patel told PTI.

Shah was last year arrested by city crime branch after he had allegedly put lewd posts about a Chief Minister’s kin on his Facebook page. He was later released on bail by a court.
