After beef ban in Maharashtra, the BJP in West Bengal has decided to launch a ‘massive’ campaign against cow slaughter in the state.
The party unit has already informed its district and local level leaders to make preparation for the month-long agitation from September, BJP leader and head of party’s cow development cell Subrata Gupta told PTI.
“We will launch a massive campaign against cow slaughter in West Bengal. We feel that in order to save mother nature and not hurt religious sentiments, it is imperative that cow slaughter is banned in the state,” Gupta said.
He said that the Bengal unit decided to bring in Home Minister Rajnath Singh at a scheduled rally next month in the city and after the rally, a deputation against cow slaughter would be submitted at the state secretariat.
The RSS, which for long was vocal against the issue of cow slaughter and smuggling of cows to Bangladesh, has been asking the state unit for the past one year to take up the issue.
