Gujarat CM opens Indo-Israel Center of Excellence for precision farming

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel today inaugurated ‘Center of Excellence for protected cultivation and precision farming’ at Vadrad in prantij belt of Sabarkantha district of north Gujarat in presence of Ambassador of Israel to India Mr. Daneil Carmon.
Developed with Israeli support, Center of Excellence will have 20 net houses for demonstration and training of best practices in horticulture.
Center of Excellence will include plug nursery having annual capacity of producing 45 lakh seedlings that has over 90% survival rate.
Plug nursery will result into production of better quality seedlings which will be given to farmers at the token rate of Re 1.
Two more centers of excellence are being setup in Gujarat.
The Chief Minister said, “I am sure this will prove to be a landmark step for horticulture sector in the state. This is successful example of Israeli technology transfer to improve farm income in Gujarat”.
Chief Minister urged farmers o adopt organic farming and encouraged them to cultivate high quality fruits and vegetables.
She had one-on-one meeting with Israeli envoy Daniel Caromon.
