Key leader of NSCN(K) arrested in Delhi: police

New Delhi

Delhi Police today claimed to have arrested a key leader of Naga insurgent outfit NSCN(K) in south Delhi’s Lodhi Road area, where he had come to meet an associate.

The arrested was identified Panmei, 50, who belongs to Peren district of Nagaland. He claims to be member of the so called “government-in-exile” established by the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland unit led by SS Khaplang, said a senior police official.

Panmei was arrested late last night from the India Habitat Centre building in Lodhi Road, where he had allegedly come to meet an associate, the senior official said.

NSCN(K) had abrogated a ceasefire agreement and attacked security personnel, including a convoy of army killing 18 soldiers in Manipur in June.
