Centre approves Rs 1204 crore plan for Gujarat under AMRUT Mission

The government of India has approved Rs 1204 plan for 8 municipal corporations and 23 municipalities of Gujarat.
Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation(AMRUT) scheme is for 500 selected cities with over one lakh population. Gujarat’s all municipal corporation, ‘A’ class municipalities and pilgrim town Dwarka – in total 31 cities are selected in this scheme that include Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Gandhinagar, Gandhidham, Nadiad, Anand, Morbi, Mahesana, Surendranagar, Bharuch, Vapi, Navsari, Veraval, Porbandar, Godhra, Botad, Patan, Palanpur, Jetpur-Navagadh, Valsad, Kalol, Bhuj, Gondal, Deesa, Amreli and Dwarka.
Service level improvement plan were prepared by each of these cities, based on which Urban development and Urban housing department wine Gujarat Urban Development Mission(DUDM) had prepared Rs 1204 crore state annual action plan(SAAP) for year 2015-16. A high power committee of Gujarat government approved this plan on 21 September and gave approval to present if before the government of India.
In Apex meting of Government of India’s Urban development ministry on 21 September 2015, the SAAP has been approved.
In total 43 projects worth Rs 1204 crore are approved that include 11 projects of water supply worth Rs 233 crore, 25 projects for gutter management worth Rs 916 crore, 2 projects of storm water discharge worth Rs 39 crore, 1 project of urban transportation worth Rs 1.70 crore and 4 projects for garden worth Rs 14 crore.
Under this mission, Gujarat govt has aimed to achieve 100% underground gutter management and 100% water supply management across all mission cities bu year 2020.
Gujarat will receive around Rs 3100 crore grant under AMRUT Mission in next five years, of them Gujarat government will provide Rs 1937 crore grant while municipalities and municipal corporation will contribute Rs 651 crore.
AMRUT mission will cover over 76% urban population of state.
Works like footpath, cycle track, urban transportation, garden etc are also planned under this mission.
