No post for five years then: Anandiben warns party candidates (video)

Rajkot

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today warned party candidates that if anyone of them gets 100-150 more votes compared to other party candidate in panel, then he/she would not be given any post in five years of rule, including the post of Mayor and Standing Committee Chairman.

Anandiben said, “You need to take care that cross voting don’t take place anywhere. If there’s a gap of 100-150 votes, no post will be given to winning candidate for five years, whether it’s Mayor’s post or Standing committee.”

She was speaking in Rajkot in public meeting held for Rajkot Municipal Corporation election, polling for which is going to take place on 22 November along with five other municipal corporations in Gujarat.

It should be noted that in 2010 municipal corporation elections, BJP had made rule that any candidate who gets 300 or more votes compared to any other candidate in panel, such winning candidate would not be given any post by party in civic body for next five years as a punishment. This rule was made to prevent individual campaign by powerful candidate, which may result into defeat of party’s weaker candidates in panel.

There’s panel of four candidates per ward in municipal corporation elections from BJP.
