45.53% average polling in Gujarat civic polls: Highest in Jamnagar, lowest in Surat

Final official figures of six-city Municipal Corporation elections in Gujarat are out. Overall voting across six cities has been 45.53% which is nearly matching to the average turnout witnessed in last two civic polls that took place in year 2005 and 2010.
Jamnagar has witnessed highest polling while Surat lowest.
Jamnagar 56.96%
Rajkot 49.53%
Vadodara 48.62%
Bhavnagar 47.44%
Ahmedabad 46.23%
Surat 39.64%
Overall average across six cities 45.53%
As always both main political parties BJP and Congress claim their victory. Counting and results will be out on 2nd December after Panchayats and Nagarpalika polls scheduled to take place on 29 November. All six civic bodies at present are ruled by BJP.
