Ahmedabad

In reply to a question during the Make In India week related function in Ahmedabad today, the Additional Chief Secretary of Industry and Mines department, Government of Gujarat Shri Arvind Agrawal said, the Gujarat state will be participating in the ‘Make In India’ week in a very big way.

He said, “we are participating in the ‘Make In India’ week in a very big way. I think we would have the largest pavilion among all the state governments. There’s a Gujarat Investors Summit also at the meet.

Agrawal further said, “There’s lot of competition among the states for ‘Ease of Doing Business’ evaluation this year also. Gujarat has taken the driver seat. We have not rested with laurels that we are number one in 2015, so we will be number one in 2016 also. No, we are aware that we have to improve upon ourselves. We were number one last year but with 71%. We can be number one with 95% also, so there lies difference.”

He said, ten days ago the Government of India, Ministry of Mines has complemented Gujarat in writing. We have become the first state in the country to start E-auction of minerals. We have begun with limestone and major minerals. We are the first state in the country.”

“Our Chief Minister held video conferences with all the GIDC estates of the state in June which was for the first time. Gujarat has 202 estates. In four zones she had the video conferences. Most of the policy decisions she took during video conferences have been implemented. I would not go into details because they are smaller number of things. These are the initiative we have taken,” he said.
