Smart City scheme: Surat eyes Rs 2597 development works

Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) has proposed Rs 2597 crore works through the Smart City fund. While Rs 795 crore sum has been allocated to pan-city development project, the other fund shall be dedicated to the area covering 7 Town Planning(TP) schemes around Textile market. The 7 TP areas are TP 7 Anjana, TP 8 Umarwada, TP 19 Parvat Magob, TP 33 Dumbhal, TP 34 Magob Dumbhal, TP 53 Magob Dumbhal, TP 64 Dumbhal Magob covering industrial, residential and commercial areas. There are five lakh people living in this area. The chunk is 10% of total population of Surat. City’s 18% economic development activities are attached to this area. The area is known as Textile hub. Water supply, gutter system, solid waste disposal, water recharging, street lighting, town planing and development, economic development etc are the areas in which smart city development works will be carried out. In Pan city section, 24 hours water supply with metering, remodeling and restructuring of water channels, SKDA and energy generation oriented treatment plant, recycling water, smart light and monitoring system, trade facilitation center, smart mechanized parking, sky walk, non vehicle street, affordable housing, smart waste collection center, air and water quality monitoring system, advance grievances redressal system, area surveillance network are some of the highlights.
