‘Love Jihad’ case in Vadodara: Accused booked under POCSO

His actual name was Rajesh Ali Mohammad Sheikh. He identified himself as Eklavalya Patel to lure a minor Hindu school girl. He is now arrested under stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Vaghodia road based businessman had filed complaint in Panigate police station stating that his 16-year old daughter studying in standard 10th in renown English medium school in city was found possessing a mobile phone. When checked it was revealed that she had talked to a boy and also had received messages. When asked further she said she was given this phone set from her female friend and she had talked to one Eklavya Patel. She further said she was studying in a school in Karelibaug area of city. When she used to fetch snacks in recess time, one boy sitting there used to approach her and later started chasing her. He was promising wedding and good life. The boy later passed on a mobile handset to stay in contact.
When checked further into this, girl’s parents were shocked to find that the boy who was claiming to be Eklavya Patel was actually Rajesh Ali Muhammad Sheikh(22) from Nagarwada loality. To lure juvenile Hindu girls, Sheikh had also used names like Raju and Pintu according to police.
Police is checking whether Sheikh had been in contact with other girls. Police Inspector Mahavirsinh Vala is investigating the case. Rajesh’s father had also married with a Hindu woman. She was his second wife. Rajesh is unemployed and is booked under IPC section 354, POCSO act section 11(1), (5) and 12. The incident has come to light when ‘Love Jihad’ is already in discussion in Vadodara following the circulation of leaflets claiming to issue caste-wise payment to Muslim boys for marrying Hindu girls.
