Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) is planning to set up a state-of-the-art bus-stand next to the Surat railway station in an attempt to provide connectivity to railway passengers to areas across the city.

The bus stand will offer bus connectivity to railway passengers to all seven zones of city. An escalator will be erected at the railway station to provide access to passengers to bus-station directly from the railway platform.

According to Rajesh Desai, Chairman of Standing Committee of SMC, the city bus service will be introduced in three phases. Bu December this year, 276 city buses will be in operation across the city areas. In the second phase, new buses will be added covering city area and fifty per cent areas under Surat Urban Development Authority(SUDA). In the third phase entire city area and 100 per cent area of SUDA will be covered.

The bus station at railway station will be big and connectivity will be available for round the clock. Passengers will not need to search for other options to reach desired area of city.
