The Maoists allegedly killed three villagers in separate incidents in Abhujmad area of Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Narayanpur district accusing them of being police informers, police said today.
District Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI as per the preliminary information, the Maoists had picked up their victims over the past two-three days from Albeda, Parpa and Matbeda villages, located in the interior of Narayanpur, under Orchha police station.
After the locals alerted the police, forces were rushed, the SP said.
There were also reports of Naxals killing tribals after branding them as informers elsewhere in the area in the past week and these reports were being verified, he said.
Meanwhile, the security forces have launched combing operation to nab those responsible for the recent killings.
Earlier, a man named Sukhram Poyam was shot dead by the Naxals on the night of February 27 at his village Kundla under Kurusnar police station limits for being “police informer”.
