Khuzaima Qutbuddin, the claimant for the post of head of Dawoodi Bohra community who passed away in the US last week, will be buried in India, a website dedicate to the spiritual leader said.
“As per the wishes of Syedna Qutbuddin, his successor (and son) Syedna Taher Fakhruddin has decided to bring Syedna Qutbuddin’s janaza mubaraka to India for janaza prayers and last rites. We are working on completing all the procedures and we will inform Mumineen (believers) of the date and time of the janaza prayers and dafan (burial) soon,” a statement on the website www.fatemidawat.com stated.
It was Fakhruddin’s wish to bring his father’s body to India for burial, time and venue for which will be announced later, it said.
The 75-year-old Qutbuddin was locked in a court battle against his nephew, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, for the title of 53rd Dai-al-Mutlaq (spiritual head) of Dawoodi Bohra community.
The court battle started after the death of 52nd Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin in January 2014.
