91.26% adults in Gujarat covered under Aadhar, State ready for total DBT by March 2017 : Gujarat CM

New Delhi: Speaking at the 11th Inter-State-Council meeting in Delhi, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel said 91.26% adult persons in Gujarat are registered under Aadhar. The state government has set up 560 permanent enrollment centers across the state for those who are yet to be covered under Aadhar. She said Finance department in Gujarat has activated a Direct Benefit Transfer Cell for direct transfer of benefits to beneficiary’s bank account and also for further Aadhar coverage and linkages.

The centre has fixed 31st March 2017 as target date for total transfer of all subsidies through bank account (Direct Benefit Transfer or DBT). Chief Minister Anandiben Patel in this reference said Gujarat is all equipped to achieve this target.

Chief Minister Patel said Gujarat needs more coastal police stations and boats. She also proposed further financial aid to Gujarat Forensic Science Laboratory. She also proposed that NEET should be conducted in regional language. She said Gujarat government agrees to majority of recommendations of Punchhi Commission.
