Una row: Anandiben visits Mota Samadhiyala, says she would visit again in 2 months
July 20, 2016
Correspondent, Junagadh: Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today visited Mota Samadhiyala village in Una taluka of Saurashtra region of Gujarat where Chamar community youths were thrashed over skinning of cow issue.
Chief Minister landed at Diu airport and went to Mota Samadhiyala by road to meet Dalit families.
After interaction with them, Anandiben said there are about 25 families here and they are satisfied with government actions in this incident. She said government will give grant for construction of houses and toilets for these families. A special camp will be held in order to give them benefits of all government schemes they are deserving. There are government schemes such as widow pension, Maa yojana, Maa Vatsalya Yojana etc. Medical camp will also be organized for them. Those children who are in above fifth standard in school will be enrolled in model schools run by government where fees are not taken.
Anandiben said she had ordered the district administration to complete these tasks in one month period. She said she would visit this place again after two months to see whether the benefits are delivered to victim families.
She said police protection has been ordered for victim families. They have complained that they get threat calls. Such calls are being recorded and whoever responsible would be arrested.
When asked why government benefits have not reached such families, Anandiben in her reply said it is responsibility of local MLA, Sarpanch and others to make sure that benefits of government schemes reach to beneficiaries.
When asked to react to visits of politicians like Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi and others to this place, Anandiben said this issue should not be given political color, whoever wants to come may come and visit the families in order to know the truth, but they should then only tell truth when they return outside Gujarat. There’s no anger against government among victims.
Anandiben was accompanied with Social Justice minister Ramanlal Vora, Chief Secretary G.R.Aloria, minister Jashabhai Barad among others. She will return to Diu airport and from there fly to Rajkot to meet victims who are hospitalized.
